THE EXPLANATION

What is behind the claim.

UV radiation reaches the skin even on cloudy days. Check the UV index and combine shade, clothing and sunscreen on exposed skin. The AAD recommends broad-spectrum UVA and UVB protection with SPF 30 or higher.

CONTEXT & LIMITATIONS

What to take away.

Outdoors, reapply about every two hours and after swimming or sweating, following product directions. Sunscreen alone cannot provide complete protection or justify longer sunbathing.
